Our mediators are Family Law Solicitors
Reduces stress and conflict
Family mediation is a process in which an independent professionally trained Mediator helps you work out arrangements for your children and/or finances following separation, or after deciding to separate.
Mediation helps you stay in control. No one will make you do anything against your wishes. The Mediator will help you find a solution which works for you both.
It is available to all married and unmarried couples and can also help with extended family issues such as those involving grandparents.
How you can mediate: The choice of whether you and your former partner mediate in person at our mediation suite in Ripley, or prefer to mediate online with the two of you working remotely with your Mediator is for you both to decide what will work best for you.
If you want more information, please feel free to contact our friendly Senior Administrator, Theresa, for a free no obligation discussion and she will be happy to help you.
Cost-effective
Speedier than Court (with cases currently taking an average of 12 months)
Convenient appointments to suit you, face-to-face meeting or remote mediation.
Reduces stress and conflict.
Benefits your children.
All of our mediators are also Legally trained, and well placed to assist with any issues that may arise.
We arrange for each of you to have a separate initial confidential meeting with one of our mediators, either by telephone, online or in person to suit you. This allows you and the Mediator to consider together whether mediation would be the best option for you.
If you both agree to mediate, you will then have meetings together either in person at our mediation centre or if you prefer by remote online mediation.
If both parents feel it appropriate, your child can have a separate meeting with a Child Inclusive qualified mediator to hear your child’s wishes and feelings with a view to assisting parents to agree ongoing plans for their children.
Once you have reached proposals for your Child arrangements, we will set these out in a comprehensive Parenting Plan, so that each of you are clear about ongoing arrangements.
Where you have successfully negotiated financial proposals, the Mediator will provide a Memorandum of Understanding to enable your solicitor to prepare the court documentation.
Mediation allowed us to move forward in a way that is constructive, impartial and easy to understand
It made the process smoother and quicker as we probably would not have reached an agreement ourselves
Helped us to discuss things without arguing, having not gone through this type of situation before I was very satisfied with the procedure and I can think of nothing to change or better it!
The Mediator was fair and did not take sides. A good all-round balance.
Time to discuss everything openly without too much emotion getting in the way
So pleased I decided to give mediation a go – a successful outcome for us both – Thank you
Our Mediator was very patient and reassuring during a very difficult time.
It helped us talk through our issues and be more understanding of each other’s feelings.
Is vastly less than the cost of using solicitors to fight your case in court.
In many cases there is help available to assist you with your costs - The government provide a £500 voucher scheme for all mediations which involve discussions about Child arrangements regardless of your financial means.
Please contact our Senior Administrator, Theresa, who will be happy to help answer any questions on costs.
